Description

The XEMIS-001 from Hiden Isochema is a gravimetric sorption analyzer designed for high-pressure gas and vapor sorption studies. It operates by precisely measuring changes in a sample's mass under controlled temperature and pressure conditions, enabling the determination of sorption isotherms, isobars, and kinetic data. This instrument is engineered for a broad spectrum of demanding applications, including research into carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and natural gas storage systems, gas solubility in ionic liquids, the characterization of nanoporous materials, and gas sorption on geological samples. The analyzer accommodates sample masses ranging from 1 milligram to 5 grams. It functions across an extensive temperature span from 77 Kelvin to 500 degrees Celsius and can handle pressures up to 170 bar as standard, with an optional extension to 200 bar. A key technical feature is its active pressure regulation system, which provides control over a range spanning seven orders of magnitude, from 10^-2 mbar upwards. The device's symmetrical design minimizes system buoyancy, contributing to measurement accuracy even at elevated pressures. It is fully compatible with a wide variety of gas species, including those that are flammable, corrosive, or toxic. The system offers automated operation for isotherm, isobar, and high-pressure thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) measurements, utilizing the IGA method for efficient analysis of sorption equilibria and kinetics.
