VIS 413 High Temperature Viscometer
Manufacturer: TA Instruments – a division of Waters Corporation
SKU: VIS 413
Description
The VIS 413 High Temperature Viscometer from TA Instruments is a rotational viscometer designed for measuring the viscosity of molten materials at extreme temperatures. Its operational temperature range extends from room temperature up to 1500°C, with a possible upper limit of 1700°C. The instrument accommodates sample volumes of either 13.8 cm³ or 9.2 cm³ and measures torque across a range from 0.1 to 50 mN·m. A key feature is its integrated atmosphere control system, which allows measurements to be conducted under vacuum, inert gas, or reactive gas conditions, making it suitable for studying air-sensitive materials. The design includes a specialized high-temperature furnace noted for its thermal stability and homogeneity. A water cooling system is incorporated to manage furnace and sensor temperature, aiming to reduce instrument downtime between tests. The sensor assembly uses spring-loaded crucible holders to simplify sample loading. The overall footprint of the system permits installation within a glovebox for handling samples that are sensitive to oxygen or moisture.
