Description
The ViewSizer 3000 from HORIBA Scientific is a nanoparticle tracking analyzer (NTA) that utilizes a multi-laser optical system. Its defining technical characteristic is the simultaneous use of three lasers at different power levels to analyze a single sample. This design addresses a common challenge in NTA: accurately sizing and counting particles across a very wide, polydisperse distribution. For very small or faintly scattering particles, data from a higher-power laser is used to ensure detection and tracking. Conversely, for larger or brighter particles that might saturate the detector, the software automatically selects data from a lower-power laser to prevent signal overload. This approach aims to provide a more accurate and comprehensive size distribution and concentration measurement within a single analysis run, from 10 nanometers up to 15 microns. The instrument requires a sample volume between 350 microliters and 2.5 milliliters. It finds application in characterizing diverse nanomaterials, including those used in chemical-mechanical planarization (CMP) slurries, nanobubbles, microplastics, and various biomaterials.
