Ventilated Balance Enclosures from Plas-Labs are self-contained workstations designed to provide a protected environment for weighing and handling sensitive materials. Available in four standard sizes—2, 3, 4, and 5 feet—the series offers flexibility for different laboratory spaces, with both exterior and interior dimensions varying by model. These enclosures operate on a total exhaust principle and are constructed with optically clear 3/8-inch acrylic, featuring a front viewing sash with integrated airfoils for containment. A key component is the top-mounted HEPA filter and blower assembly, which cleans air before it can be recirculated into the lab or, alternatively, the unit can be connected to an external exhaust system like the manufacturer's 900-EXTRACT unit or a building's ductwork. The design includes a phenolic base for chemical resistance and balance stabilization, an electrical port, and a face velocity alarm. Optional features include a Bag-In/Bag-Out port. These enclosures are intended for use with fine powders, chemicals, and biologicals, aiming to minimize laboratory footprint and energy consumption while enhancing safety.
