UltraCOOL probe / SuperCOOL probe

Description

The JEOL UltraCOOL and SuperCOOL probes are cryogenically cooled NMR probes designed to enhance measurement sensitivity. By operating the detection coil and preamplifier at cryogenic temperatures, these probes significantly reduce thermal noise. This design can yield sensitivity several times greater than that achievable with conventional room-temperature probes. The system supports automatic tuning and matching, which facilitates a broad range of continuous measurements when used with a compatible auto-tuning unit. JEOL provides three primary variants for solution NMR: the UltraCOOL probe (UC), the SuperCOOL MARVEL Open type (SCO), and the SuperCOOL MARVEL Closed type (SCC). All models feature extensive sample temperature control, with a range spanning from -40°C to +150°C. Operational characteristics differ among the types; for instance, the UltraCOOL probe utilizes liquid nitrogen as a coolant, which can be replenished during ongoing NMR measurements. In contrast, certain SuperCOOL models are engineered to eliminate the need for filling the cooling system with liquid nitrogen, which can reduce running costs. Optional accessories like a Probe Lifter and Probe Arm are available to simplify the process of exchanging probes.
