Description

Direct Mass Technology Mode is a specialized operational feature for Thermo Scientific Q Exactive UHMR Hybrid Quadrupole-Orbitrap mass spectrometers. This mode implements charge detection capabilities, which allows the instrument to measure the charge state (z) of individual ions concurrently with their standard mass-to-charge (m/z) ratio. By acquiring both data dimensions simultaneously for hundreds of ions, the technology provides direct mass information. This is particularly useful for the analysis of large, complex biomolecules and assemblies, where traditional deconvolution of m/z data can be challenging.
