TGA/STA-GC-MS Coupling
Manufacturer: NETZSCH-Gerätebau GmbH
SKU: TGA/STA-GC-MS
Description
This system provides a specialized coupling interface for connecting a Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA) or Simultaneous Thermal Analyzer (STA) to a Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS). It is designed for Evolved Gas Analysis (EGA), enabling the separation and identification of volatile compounds released from a sample during heating. The coupling uses a patented method for event-controlled or temperature-dependent sampling, transferring evolved gases via a heated line maintained at 300°C to a valve box. A key feature is a cryo-trap mode to concentrate analytes and enhance detection sensitivity. The mass spectrometer component employs a monolithic hyperbolic quadrupole analyzer with a mass range from 1.6 to 1050 u and utilizes a non-coated inert electron impact (EI) ionization source. The GC-MS subsystem is supplied in partnership with Agilent and Joint Analytical Systems. This configuration is particularly useful for detecting and analyzing organic components, additives, stabilizers, and residual solvents in materials such as polymers, pharmaceuticals, food products, cosmetics, and biomass.
