Description

The TD-30 Series from Shimadzu is a thermal desorption unit for sample introduction in gas chromatography. It is used to thermally extract volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds from solid or adsorbent tube samples for subsequent analysis. The system has a standard capacity for 60 samples. It incorporates a cold trap, cooled by a Peltier element, to focus the desorbed analytes before injection into the GC. Features include overlapping functions, which allow sample preparation to occur during a GC run, and an interrupt function for priority sample insertion. The design facilitates maintenance, with consumables like traps and O-rings accessible from the top of the instrument. Software tracks consumable usage and alerts the user when replacement is advised.
