TCAT-2 Animal Temperature Controller

Description

The TCAT-2 from Physitemp Instruments is a PID autotuning temperature controller for laboratory use, with specific applications in animal physiology. It maintains a setpoint with an accuracy of +/- 0.5°C across a broad control range from -100°C to +400°C, with a resolution of 0.1°C. The unit operates on 110-230V AC power. It is commonly used to regulate the body temperature of anesthetized animals during procedures by controlling devices like heat lamps, pads, or blankets. It can also be configured for cooling applications, such as managing perfusate systems. The controller uses a Type T thermocouple probe for feedback, with various probe types available for rectal, implantable, or surface measurements. Different model variants (TCAT-2AC, TCAT-2LV, TCAT-2DF) offer outputs for AC-powered devices, low-voltage DC for sensitive applications, or a combination of both. The housing features adjustable front feet and includes a heat/cool mode switch and a load power indicator.
