Description

Designed for quality control applications, the PCE-CSM 8 is an advanced portable spectrophotometer that provides accurate color analysis. It features a 3.5-inch touchscreen interface for operation and data review. The instrument employs a 45°/0° optical geometry (45-degree illumination, 0-degree viewing) to measure surface color in a manner that correlates well with visual assessment. It reports color data in several standard spaces, including CIE LAB, XYZ, Yxy, LCh, and LUV. A key function is its pass/fail analysis capability, where a measurement can be saved as a named reference value and subsequent samples can be compared to it. The device displays both the individual color coordinate values and the total color difference (Delta E) between the sample and reference. Internal memory allows for the storage of up to 1,000 reference values and 10,000 sample readings. Measured data can be exported to a computer through the integrated USB port, and dedicated PC software is included with the device. The unit has a specified measurement resolution of 0.01, with L values ranging from 0 to 100 and a/b values from -128 to 127. It is designed for use in environments with temperatures between 32 and 104°F.
