SpectraMax i3x Multi-Mode Microplate Reader

Manufacturer: Molecular Devices, LLC

SKU: i3x

Description

The SpectraMax i3x is a modular, multi-mode microplate reader from Molecular Devices. Its core detection modes include absorbance, fluorescence, and luminescence. A defining characteristic is its user-upgradeable platform, which allows for the addition of application-specific modules post-purchase. Available modules expand functionality to areas such as fast kinetic measurements with injectors, time-resolved fluorescence (including HTRF and AlphaScreen), western blot detection, and cell imaging. For cellular analysis, an optional integrated imager, the MiniMax 300 Imaging Cytometer, enables no-stain cell counting and confluency measurement using a brightfield segmentation algorithm, and supports two fluorescence channels for viability assays. The reader uses a Spectral Fusion Illumination system and can be equipped with PMT or photodiode detectors. It supports a wide range of plate formats from 6 to 1536 wells and offers temperature control from 4°C above ambient up to 45°C. This configurability allows a single instrument to address diverse applications in cellular pathway analysis, protein studies, and general plate-based assays.
