SpectraMax ABS and ABS Plus Absorbance ELISA Microplate Readers
Manufacturer: Molecular Devices, LLC
SKU: SpectraMax ABS and ABS Plus
Description
The SpectraMax ABS and ABS Plus are dedicated absorbance microplate readers from Molecular Devices. Utilizing a xenon flash lamp light source and a filter-free optical system with quartz fiber optics, they are designed for assays such as ELISA, protein quantification, and microbial growth. A key feature is the optional PathCheck Sensor, which measures the optical pathlength in each well to normalize absorbance data and help identify pipetting variations without requiring a standard curve. The instruments employ an eight-channel read head that functions similarly to a dual-beam system, with independent sample and reference detection for each of the eight wells read simultaneously. This enables a full 96-well plate read in approximately five seconds in speed mode. The readers accommodate standard cuvettes and microplates from 96 to 384 wells, support dual-wavelength measurements, and are compatible with validation tools like the SpectraTest ABS1 plate. The compact unit dimensions are 12 by 16.3 by 8 inches.
