Description

The SmartLab SE from Rigaku Corporation is a multipurpose X-ray diffractometer designed for versatility and ease of operation. It incorporates intelligent guidance software that automates measurement processes, including optics and sample alignment. The system features a 3 kW sealed X-ray tube and utilizes two detector types: the HyPix-400 2D detector, which allows users to switch between 0D, 1D, and 2D detection modes as required by the application, and the D/teX Ultra 250 1D detector, which can accelerate powder diffraction measurements by up to 250 times. This 1D detector offers adjustable energy resolution, typically around 20% or 4%, depending on the sample. A key optical component is the cross-beam optics module, which enables switching between Bragg-Brentano and parallel beam geometries without physically changing the optics. Instrument control and data analysis are managed through the SmartLab Studio II software, which operates on an integrated modular platform. The system's self-alignment capabilities for optics are intended to maximize operational uptime and reduce long-term ownership costs.
