SmartLab High-Resolution Diffraction System

Description

The SmartLab is a high-resolution X-ray diffraction (XRD) system built on a modular, automated platform. Its core component is a theta/theta closed-loop goniometer designed for horizontal sample mounting, which contributes to its high-resolution scanning capabilities. The system is typically equipped with a 3 kW sealed X-ray tube and a D/teX Ultra 250 silicon strip detector. An optional 9.0 kW rotating anode generator is available for increased intensity. Key features include a fully automated optical alignment system, a cross-beam optic (CBO) for switching between focusing and parallel-beam geometries, and an integrated in-plane scattering arm. It is controlled by Guidance software, which provides pre-configured measurement packages for techniques such as powder diffraction, thin-film analysis, X-ray reflectivity, and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). The system can handle samples including wafers up to 300 mm in diameter.
