Description
Applied Scientific Instrumentation's PZ-2000FT Series is a motorized microscope stage providing automated control over X, Y, and Z positioning. The system integrates a high-precision XY stage with a separate piezo-driven Z-axis top plate. For XY motion, it employs closed-loop DC servomotors with rotary encoders and crossed-roller slides, achieving a resolution of 0.088 µm and a maximum speed of 7 mm/sec. This closed-loop design prevents positional loss. The Z-axis utilizes a piezo element mounted in the stage top, offering nanometer-level resolution (2.2, 4.5, or 7.6 nm) over a standard travel range of 150 µm, with 300 µm and 500 µm options available. This configuration allows for precise focal plane adjustment without modifying the microscope objective. The stage top accepts standard K-size slide inserts for various sample formats. Control is managed by an MS-2000 unit featuring RS-232 and USB interfaces, a backlit LCD, joystick control, and standalone 'Zero' and 'Home' functions. The compact tabletop controller measures approximately 6"D x 9"W x 3"H. A key feature of the FT model is its flat stage top, designed to facilitate the mounting of micromanipulators on either side.
