Description

PrimeStore MTM is a specialized transport medium formulated for the collection and stabilization of nucleic acids from infectious agents. Its primary function is to inactivate pathogens such as viruses and bacteria upon contact, thereby enhancing safety during sample handling and transport. Simultaneously, it preserves the integrity of DNA and RNA, effectively capturing a molecular snapshot of the sample at the time of collection. This medium is engineered specifically for downstream molecular diagnostic applications, including PCR, and is distinct from traditional viral transport media (VTM), which are designed for cell culture and can inhibit molecular assays. The product is supplied in tubes, with packs containing 100 units, and is intended for use with nasal swab samples. It is stable at ambient temperatures, eliminating the need for a cold chain. PrimeStore MTM holds FDA Class 2 clearance and CE marking as a device for microbial nucleic acid storage and stabilization. It has been validated for use with numerous diagnostic platforms from manufacturers like Roche, Abbott, and Cepheid, and is applicable for testing pathogens including SARS-CoV-2, influenza, HIV, and tuberculosis.
