PREP C20 Instrument
Manufacturer: Polymer Char
SKU: PREP C20
Description
The PREP C20 Instrument from Polymer Char is a preparative-scale fractionation system designed for the automated separation of polymers. It operates as a pilot-plant-type unit capable of processing up to 20 grams of polymer per run, depending on the sample. The system fractionates materials based on chemical composition using Temperature Rising Elution Fractionation (TREF) or by molar mass using a solvent-non-solvent gradient technique under isothermal conditions. The fully automated process handles dissolution, column loading, crystallization, elution, and fraction collection, eliminating manual handling of hot solvents. An integrated compressor enables subambient operation without liquid coolants. The column-based design allows for an unlimited number of fractions to be collected, with capacity for up to nine fractions without changing collection bottles. The fractions produced are suitable for subsequent analysis by techniques such as GPC/SEC, TREF, spectroscopy, or micromechanical testing. By exchanging the column, the system can also perform fractionation via Thermal or Solvent Gradient Interaction Chromatography, facilitating detailed cross-fractionation studies essential for comprehensive polymer resin characterization.
