Description

The Precision ID Ancestry Panel from Thermo Fisher Scientific (SKU A25642) is a next-generation sequencing (NGS) assay designed for human identification and biogeographic ancestry analysis. This ready-to-use panel targets 165 autosomal single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) using Ion AmpliSeq multiplex PCR technology. It requires a low input of DNA, as little as 125 picograms, and features an average amplicon size of less than 130 base pairs, making it effective for analyzing degraded forensic or ancient DNA samples. The panel is formatted for 96 reactions and, when used with an Ion 520 Chip, can process up to 72 samples in a single sequencing run. Data analysis is supported by the Converge Software NGS Data Analysis module, which uses 151 ancestry-informative markers to generate admixture predictions and population likelihoods across seven major continental population groups.
