Description

The Opentrons Flex NGS Workstation is a configurable robotic system for automating next-generation sequencing library preparation. Built around the modular Flex robot, this workstation allows users to select and combine pipettes, a labware gripper, and on-deck modules to suit specific protocol requirements. It supports pipetting with one or two pipettes, available in 1-channel, 8-channel, or 96-channel configurations, handling volumes from 1 µL to 1000 µL. The system is designed to automate various NGS workflow steps, including library construction, bead clean-ups, normalization, pooling, tagmentation, and transformation. It can process up to 48 samples with dual 8-channel pipettes or up to 96 samples with a 96-channel pipette. Operation is facilitated through a touchscreen interface, the Opentrons App, or open-source Python APIs, providing flexibility for both code-free protocol design and advanced scripting.
