Description

The Opentrons Flex Gripper GEN1 is an accessory designed for the Flex robotic platform to automate labware movement. It attaches to the instrument's gantry and is capable of transferring plates and racks across the main deck, onto integrated modules like a Thermocycler or Magnetic Block, and to or from auxiliary side slots used for tip and labware storage. The gripper is compatible with any pipette configuration on the Flex robot. It includes a calibration pin for automated positional calibration to ensure accuracy. This component is optimized for handling specific labware, including the NEST 2 mL 96-deep well plate, the Opentrons Tough 0.2 mL 96-well PCR plate, the NEST 96-well flat plate, and all Opentrons Flex tip racks. Its primary function is to support automated workflows in applications such as liquid handling, PCR preparation, next-generation sequencing library prep, nucleic acid extraction, and protein purification.
