Nicomp N3000 Nanoparticle Size Analyzer
Manufacturer: Entegris
SKU: N3000
Description
The Nicomp N3000 is a dynamic light scattering (DLS) instrument for determining the size distribution of nanoparticles and colloids, with a measuring range from 0.3 nanometers to 10 micrometers. Its analysis is based on a proprietary high-resolution algorithm capable of deconvoluting multimodal distributions, which allows it to distinguish a primary particle population from aggregate tails. The system employs laser diodes (red: 15–100 mW; green: 20–100 mW) as light sources and supports various sample cells, including standard cuvettes and low-volume culture tubes. A time-history plot provides visual feedback on data collection sufficiency. Standard features include baseline adjustment for aggregate compensation and a vesicle weighting function for analyzing unilamellar vesicles. Optional modules extend functionality: an autodilution system handles concentrated samples up to 40% solids; a multi-angle goniometer enables measurements from 12 to 175 degrees; higher-power laser diodes and an avalanche photodiode (APD) detector enhance sensitivity for very small or weakly scattering particles; and low-volume cells accommodate samples as small as 10 microliters. The modular design allows configuration for batch autosampling or online process monitoring. Typical applications include research and quality control in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and materials science.
