Description

The Nexera QX is a multiplexed liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry system engineered to increase analytical throughput. Its core design employs multiple, independent LC streams that alternately introduce samples into a single mass spectrometer, allowing the detector to operate continuously. This architecture is intended to eliminate idle time typically associated with column equilibration and system flushing in sequential analyses. The system utilizes dedicated UHPLC autosamplers, injection valves, and washing pumps for each stream to promote fast cycle times and ultra-low carryover. An automated rinsing function for each flow line helps manage potential contamination from challenging samples. The platform can also perform automated online sample cleanup. The mass spectrometer at the heart of the system is the LCMS-8060NX triple quadrupole, which features molybdenum hyperbolic mass filters with pre-rods in both Q1 and Q3, and post-rods in Q1. It supports various ionization methods, including electrospray (ESI), atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI), and dual ionization. Operation is managed through dedicated QX Solution software, which provides centralized control for the multiple LC streams and the MS. This software incorporates features for automatic carryover detection, system rinsing, and detection of high-concentration samples to support robust, unattended operation.
