Description

The Neoma MS/MS MC-ICP-MS from Thermo Fisher Scientific is a multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer that incorporates a tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) design. This configuration is intended to address challenging isobaric interferences that cannot be resolved by high-resolution mass analyzers alone. The instrument features a dedicated collision/reaction cell preceded by a mass filtering stage. This pre-cell mass filter allows for the selective isolation of a target ion before it enters the cell, where further chemical reactions can remove spectral overlaps. This approach is particularly relevant for applications in isotope ratio analysis, including those involving laser ablation sample introduction, where precise and accurate measurements are required.
