Description

Motorized Focus Drives from Prior Scientific provide automated Z-axis control for a wide range of microscopes through a retrofitting process. The system offers high precision with a minimum step size of 0.002 micrometers, enabling extremely fine and repeatable focus positioning. For rapid, larger movements, the drive can achieve speeds of up to 20 revolutions per second. Installation is facilitated by a coupling system that uses a ring adaptor to connect the motor to the coarse and fine focus knobs found on most microscopes; a direct-couple adaptor is also available for connecting to the microscope's focus spindle directly. For heavier microscope stages, such as those on zoom or macro systems, a high-power motor option is offered. To achieve the highest possible accuracy and repeatability, an optional probe-style encoder feedback system can be integrated. The primary features include sub-micron precision, ease of installation, high-speed capability, and the availability of an encoder for feedback control.
