microViscoStar™ Differential in-line Viscometer for UHPLC
Manufacturer: Waters | Wyatt Technology
SKU: microViscoStar
Description
The microViscoStar™ is a differential in-line viscometer engineered for integration with UHPLC (Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography) systems, particularly for the analysis of polymers and macromolecules. It operates on the principle of differential viscometry, measuring pressure differences across a capillary bridge with a range of up to 6.9 kPa. When used in conjunction with size-exclusion chromatography and a concentration detector, it enables the determination of intrinsic viscosity (IV), a key parameter for understanding polymer properties in solution. The device features automated bridge tuning for stability, requires minimal maintenance due to a lack of moving parts, and offers temperature control from 4°C to 70°C. Its design minimizes solvent consumption and sample band broadening. The derived IV data, combined with molar mass information from techniques like light scattering, can be used to calculate hydrodynamic radius, molecular conformation, and branching ratios.
