Description

These Micro Bio-Spin™ P-6 Gel Columns are pre-packed by Bio-Rad with P-6 gel and equilibrated in Tris buffer. They function as size exclusion columns for the rapid desalting and buffer exchange of biological samples. The P-6 gel matrix excludes molecules larger than roughly 6,000 daltons, allowing salts, dyes, and other small molecules to be separated from proteins, nucleic acids, and other macromolecules. The procedure involves a short centrifugation step, making it a fast alternative to dialysis. These disposable columns are commonly used to prepare samples for techniques sensitive to salt concentration, such as electrophoresis, enzymatic assays, or mass spectrometry.
