MFC-2000 Z-Axis Drive and Controller
Manufacturer: Applied Scientific Instrumentation
SKU: MFC-2000
Description
The MFC-2000 is a system designed for automated, precise control of a microscope's focus (Z-axis). It consists of a custom-fitted mechanical drive that attaches to the microscope and a separate electronic control unit. The system employs a closed-loop DC servomotor with high-resolution encoders, providing a positioning resolution of 0.05 micrometers and highly repeatable movement. This closed-loop design prevents the loss of focus position that can occur with open-loop systems. The control unit features a backlit LCD display for coordinates and offers both USB and RS-232 serial interfaces for computer communication. A clutch mechanism allows users to disengage the motor for manual focusing without drag. Installation typically involves replacing the microscope's fine focus knob and a plate, using provided hardware and instructions, without permanent modification to the microscope. The compact control unit measures 9 inches wide by 6 inches deep by 3 inches high.
