MET ONE R4800 and R4900 Remote Air Particle Counters

Description

The MET ONE R4800 and R4900 are remote air particle counters engineered for integration into continuous monitoring systems within cleanrooms. These compact, fanless sensors are designed for permanent installation in sensitive environments, including pharmaceutical, semiconductor, hard disk drive, and flat panel display manufacturing facilities. A primary distinction between the two models lies in their communication interfaces. The R4800 series utilizes a standard RS-485 serial communication protocol, while the R4900 series employs a 4-20 mA analog current loop interface, providing flexibility for different system architectures. Both models respond to simple ASCII command sets for functions like starting counts, reporting data, and sending identification. In terms of particle detection, the R4800 is configured for a sensitivity range of 0.3 to 0.5 micrometers, and the R4900 for 0.3 to 0.75 micrometers. They operate with a 1.0 cubic foot per minute flow rate. The units feature user-programmable alarm levels that can trigger upon detecting high particle counts, with an auto-reset function at the start of the next sampling cycle. Their stainless steel enclosures and resistance to vaporous hydrogen peroxide (VHP) allow for deployment in demanding process environments. Power is supplied at either 6 VDC for the internal electronics or 24 VDC for the loop supply, with each drawing less than 250 mA.
