MegaTOF Megadalton MALDI Mass Spectrometer

Description

The MegaTOF system is a mass spectrometer configured for the analysis of very large biomolecules and complexes. It integrates a linear MALDI-TOF (Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight) mass analyzer with a specialized high-mass detection system. This configuration allows the instrument to detect and characterize macromolecules with masses extending up to 1,500 kilodaltons (kDa). The system achieves a resolution in the range of 180 to 200 kDa for high-mass analytes. A key feature is its compatibility with chemical cross-linking reagents, which are used to stabilize non-covalent protein complexes for analysis. The scanning speed is approximately 15 seconds per sample position. Control of the instrument is facilitated through a dedicated touch-screen interface. Primary applications include the characterization of antibodies, protein-protein interactions, therapeutic protein aggregates, and high-mass MALDI imaging. This instrument is configured for use within the United States.
