Description
The MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter employs a microchip-based, cartridge-enclosed system designed to provide a gentler and more secure sorting process compared to traditional droplet-based sorters. It utilizes three lasers at 405 nm, 488 nm, and 638 nm for excitation, enabling analysis and sorting based on up to 10 parameters, including eight fluorescence and two scatter channels. The core technology involves disposable, sterile cartridges that contain the sorting microchip, eliminating operator exposure to aerosols and sample cross-contamination. Cells are propelled through the chip using a low, constant air pressure below 3 psi, avoiding the high pressures, electrical charges, and decompression events typical of other sorters. This system supports sorting speeds of up to 110,000 cells per second with the appropriate high-speed cartridge. The instrument features automated setup, including flow control and laser alignment, to simplify operation. It can maintain a cooled sorting environment at 4°C to preserve cell viability. Different cartridge types are available for standard, high-speed, or GMP-compliant applications.
