Plas-Labs produces the 900-VBE Series, a Low Velocity Fume Hood designed as a ventilated enclosure. This unit is a self-contained, portable safety cabinet intended for handling fine powders, chemical preparations, and biological materials. A key feature is its HEPA filtration system, which is top-mounted. The hood can operate in several configurations: it can recirculate filtered air back into the laboratory, be connected to the company's dedicated 900-EXTRACT Extraction Unit, or be attached to an existing building exhaust system. The internal design incorporates smooth, curved acrylic airfoils and rear baffles to promote unobstructed, laminar airflow through the workspace and the HEPA filter. Available in multiple sizes, the hood comes in 2-foot, 3-foot, and 4-foot widths, corresponding to catalog numbers 900-VBE 24, 36, 48, and 60. Both interior and exterior dimensions are model-dependent. The design aims to provide effective containment while occupying minimal laboratory space and conserving energy.
