LifeSpec-II Dedicated Lifetime Spectrometer
Manufacturer: Edinburgh Instruments Ltd
SKU: LifeSpec-II
Description
The LifeSpec-II is a dedicated spectrometer for measuring time-resolved fluorescence using Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC). It is a computer-controlled instrument compatible with modern pulsed light sources, including picosecond diode lasers (EPLs), pulsed LEDs (EPLEDs), titanium-sapphire lasers, and supercontinuum sources. This enables the measurement of fluorescence lifetimes down to tens of picoseconds. A key feature is its integrated emission monochromator, which is designed with zero temporal dispersion to avoid measurement errors when recovering very short lifetimes. The system operates across a broad spectral range; one version covers 200 to 1000 nm, while a second version with two grating sets extends the range to 1700 nm. The sample compartment is spacious, accommodating various holders for multi-position, cryogenic, or X-Y positioning applications. Additional functionalities include computer-controlled laser attenuation, optional polarizers, selectable input and output ports, and a safety-interlocked detector shutter.
