Description

Shimadzu's LCMS-2050 is a single quadrupole mass spectrometer that aims to combine analytical performance with operational simplicity. It is presented as an accessible tool for users who may not have extensive mass spectrometry experience, offering a workflow comparable to a standard LC detector. The system can analyze compounds across a broad mass range, reported as m/z 2 to 2000, with an emphasis on sensitivity. Its scanning speed is specified at 15,000 u/sec, and it achieves a polarity switching time of 10 milliseconds. Ionization is handled by a combined dual ion source capable of heated electrospray and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization, allowing for the analysis of diverse compound classes. System startup is relatively quick, with the vacuum system ready for operation in approximately six minutes. An automated System Check function injects a standard to verify parameters like mass accuracy and resolution. The accompanying LabSolutions LCMS software provides unified control for both the LC and MS components.
