Description

The Shimadzu LCMS-2020 is a single quadrupole mass spectrometer designed for liquid chromatography applications. It is engineered to provide rapid analysis with high sensitivity, suitable for detecting trace-level impurities. A key operational feature is its scanning capability, which reaches speeds up to 15,000 atomic mass units per second. The instrument also supports fast polarity switching, completing the change in 15 milliseconds to preserve data integrity during analysis. For sample ionization, the system offers multiple techniques, including electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI). These can be used individually or simultaneously via a dual ionization source (DUIS), which allows mode selection through software without manual hardware adjustments. The design incorporates ion optics intended to enhance sensitivity. Maintenance procedures are simplified; for instance, the desolvation line can be replaced without requiring a vacuum break.
