Description

The Shimadzu LC-40D XS pump is a solvent delivery system suitable for demanding UHPLC separations. It utilizes a parallel dual-plunger mechanism designed for gradient accuracy and repeatability. This model operates at a maximum pressure of 105 MPa and offers a flow rate range spanning 0.1 µL/min to 10 mL/min. The unit's dimensions are 260 mm wide, 500 mm deep, and 140 mm high. Operational modes include constant flow, constant pressure, isocratic, and various high- and low-pressure gradient configurations (binary, ternary, quaternary). Optional add-ons include a 2- or 4-channel internal solvent selection valve or a low-pressure gradient formation (LPGE) unit. A central feature is the FlowPilot system, which manages flow ramp-up synchronized with column temperature, helping to protect columns from pressure shock. This technology also includes diagnostic functions that monitor pressure for anomalies, can attempt to restore normal operation, and can alert users to low solvent levels. The pump interface displays operational statistics such as total run time, solvent volume per seal, and maintenance and error logs. Adjustable solvent compressibility settings allow for pulsation reduction. Control is available through the front panel keypad, a web browser, or compatible chromatography and mass spectrometry software.
