Description

The NuAire LabGard TE NU-560 is a Class II, Type B2 biosafety cabinet designed for total exhaust operation. This unit provides personnel, product, and environmental protection for procedures involving low to moderate risk biological agents or non-flammable volatile chemicals. It functions as a bench-top model but can be configured with an optional stand for console-style use. A key operational feature is its maintenance of a minimum average inflow velocity of 105 feet per minute (0.53 meters per second) across the work access opening, which helps contain aerosols within the workspace. In a Type B2 configuration, 100% of the cabinet's downflow and inflow air is exhausted from the laboratory. This air is drawn from the room or from an external supply, passes through HEPA filtration, and is then expelled via a hard-ducted connection to the building's exhaust system without any recirculation back into the cabinet or lab environment. All internal ducts and plenums are maintained under negative pressure for additional safety. This design makes the cabinet suitable for work with radionuclides and certain volatile chemicals, subject to appropriate risk assessment. The cabinet is constructed to meet the performance standards outlined by agencies such as the CDC and NSF International for Class II, Type B2 containment.
