The LabGard ES LP NU-640 Series is a low-profile, Class II Type A2 biosafety cabinet engineered for animal handling tasks in vivarium settings. A primary design goal is to maximize the usable work access opening while minimizing the unit's overall footprint. The cabinet dimensions vary by model, with exterior widths ranging from approximately 56 to 80 inches and interior workspace widths from about 47 to 71 inches, allowing it to pass through standard doorways. Protection is achieved through a defined airflow pattern: a 105 fpm (0.53 m/s) inflow at the opening combined with a 60 fpm (0.30 m/s) laminar downflow creates a dynamic air barrier. Standard LED lighting illuminates the workspace. The nominal six-foot width model offers configuration flexibility, enabling users to combine modules for functions like refuse disposal and dirty cage collection to create a customized animal waste station.
