Description

The NuAire LabGard ES NU-677 is a Class II, Type A2 biosafety cabinet designed for animal handling applications. This unit can be configured as a bench-top model or as a console using its integrated, mobile support stand. It employs an Energy Saver (ES) system featuring a DC ECM motor paired with an optimized forward-curved fan, which is managed by a solid-state controller to maintain consistent airflow. This system automatically adjusts for filter loading and variations in line voltage to ensure operational efficiency and performance stability. As a laminar flow biosafety cabinet, it is engineered to provide environmental control for procedures involving biological materials or particulates with low to moderate risk, as defined by guidelines such as those from the CDC. When proper operational techniques are followed, the cabinet aids in protecting both the product and personnel from airborne contaminants. Meeting the criteria for a Class II, Type A2 cabinet, the NU-677 maintains a minimum average inflow velocity of 105 feet per minute (0.53 meters per second) at the work opening. It recirculates a portion of HEPA/ULPA-filtered air as downflow within the workspace, while the exhaust can be directed back into the laboratory or, via a canopy connection, to an external exhaust system. All internal ducts and plenums that may be contaminated are maintained under negative pressure for containment. It is suitable for work with volatile chemicals only when connected to an external exhaust system and after a proper chemical risk assessment.
