It functions as a primary engineering control, designed to protect personnel, the product, and the laboratory environment during procedures involving low to moderate risk biological agents or particulate chemicals, such as in research or pharmaceutical preparation. The cabinet operates with a standard 70/30 air split, recirculating 70% of the air within the cabinet and exhausting 30% after HEPA filtration. It maintains an inflow velocity of 105 feet per minute (0.53 m/s). A central feature is its energy-efficient motor system, engineered to extend HEPA filter life and reduce operational costs. The construction avoids the use of monolithic silicone, which contributes to the cabinet's durability and longevity. Its design conforms to relevant biosafety standards for Type A2 cabinets.
