JEC-3000FC (Auto Fine Coater)
Manufacturer: JEOL USA, Inc.
SKU: JEC-3000FC
Description
The JEC-3000FC is an automated sputter coater designed for preparing non-conductive samples for scanning electron microscopy. It applies a fine-grained, conductive platinum film to specimens to prevent charging effects and enhance secondary electron emission during SEM imaging. The system operates using a magnetron-based, low-voltage discharge technique for efficient cold sputtering. Operation is fully automated, encompassing both vacuum pumping, which can utilize an air or argon purge, and the sputtering process itself. Coating thickness is adjustable by modifying parameters such as sputtering current, duration, and the distance between the target and the sample stage. An optional rotating and tilting specimen stage is available to ensure uniform coating coverage on samples with complex topographies. While a platinum target is supplied with the instrument, alternative targets including gold and gold/palladium are also available.
