Jacketed Liposome Extruder
Manufacturer: Genizer LLC
SKU: GJE
Description
The Genizer Jacketed Liposome Extruder is a specialized apparatus for preparing uniform, unilamellar liposomes and lipopolyplexes. It functions by using pressurized nitrogen gas to force a suspension of drug, protein, or gene carriers through a track-etched membrane of a defined pore size, typically requiring 5 to 10 passes to achieve a consistent particle size distribution. A key design feature is the jacketed thermo barrel, which allows for temperature control of the sample during the extrusion process, helping to maintain the stability of sensitive formulations. The extruder is constructed from sanitary 316L stainless steel and is available in multiple capacities including 10 mL, 100 mL, 800 mL, and 3000 mL to suit different batch sizes. Seals are available in NBR or Viton materials. The system is designed to minimize dead volume and includes components such as a large-pore support screen, a laser micro-pore disc, and high-pressure tubing. It is noted for compatibility with GMP and FDA guidelines.
