Description

The Rudolph Research Analytical J457 Automatic Refractometer is a high-precision instrument designed for demanding laboratory analysis. It offers a broad refractive index measurement range from 1.26 to 1.72 RI, with a temperature operating span of 10°C to 110°C. Measurements are completed in under 30 seconds, with user-configurable timing, and the device provides a resolution of ±0.00001 RI or 0.001 BRIX. A key operational feature is its integrated diagnostic system, which automatically alerts the user to potential issues such as an improperly cleaned prism, insufficient sample volume, incorrect calibration, cross-contamination, improper water zero, or trapped air bubbles on the measurement surface. For precise thermal management, the instrument employs a Dual Temperature Control System using Peltier technology. This system actively heats and cools the sample from both the prism surface and a sealed sample cover, creating a uniform temperature environment within the prism well for enhanced measurement stability and accuracy.
