Description

The IGA-001 from Hiden Isochema is a gravimetric analyzer designed for studying gas sorption interactions with solid and liquid materials. Its operation is based on a highly sensitive microbalance that continuously monitors changes in a sample's mass as a function of precisely controlled gas pressure and temperature. This allows for the determination of key material properties, including gas adsorption capacity, solubility, specific surface area (via BET analysis), and thermodynamic and kinetic parameters. The instrument is versatile, suitable for use with a wide range of gases and sample types. It features active pressure control from sub-millibar levels up to a standard maximum of 10 bar, with an optional extension to 20 bar. The sample temperature can be controlled from cryogenic conditions (77 K) up to 1000 °C. The system is fully programmable for custom method development and is noted for its measurement stability. The core IGA-001 is dedicated to single-component gas sorption but can be upgraded to add capabilities for dynamic gas mixing and vapor sorption studies.
