Description

The Shimadzu ICPMS-2040 and ICPMS-2050 Series are inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers designed for high-throughput trace element analysis. These instruments serve multiple sectors, including environmental monitoring for water quality, food safety and agriculture, and pharmaceutical quality control. A defining feature is the proprietary Mini-Torch System, which reduces argon gas consumption by approximately one-third compared to conventional plasma torches and operates effectively with argon of 99.95% purity, contributing to lower operational costs. The system enhances workflow efficiency through features that reduce measurement time by an estimated 30%, such as high-speed cell gas purging and ProActive rinsing protocols. Automated functions, including extended rinsing to minimize sample carryover and performance monitoring for consumables, help to reduce required operator supervision. Analytical capabilities include Online Interelement Correction (IEC) to address spectral interferences, an aerosol dilution function for samples with high dissolved solids content, and a charge stabilizer for improved signal stability. Pre-configured method templates are available for standard protocols like EPA 200.8, USP 232/233/2232, and ICH Q3D. The instruments are operated via LabSolutions ICPMS software, which presents information in a consolidated interface suitable for both novice and advanced users.
