Description

The Icon-X from Rigaku Corporation is a fourth-generation handheld Raman analyzer employing a 1064 nm excitation laser. This wavelength is selected to minimize fluorescence interference, which is particularly beneficial when analyzing colored, contaminated, or packaged substances. The instrument can acquire a spectrum in under one minute across a range of 200 to 2425 cm⁻¹, with a spectral resolution between approximately 6 and 13 cm⁻¹. It utilizes a thermoelectrically cooled InGaAs detector with 512 pixels. A key operational feature is the capability for standoff chemical identification, allowing users to analyze potentially hazardous materials from a distance to enhance safety. The device includes an onboard chemical library and is designed for use in field applications such as hazardous material response, security screening, and forensic investigation. It features a capacitive touchscreen interface and does not require user calibration.
