This Human beta-Amyloid (1-40) ELISA kit from FUJIFILM Wako Chemicals is a 96-well immunoassay designed for the quantitative measurement of Aβ40 peptides in research samples. In Alzheimer's disease research, distinguishing between Aβ40 and Aβ42 peptides is critical, as they exhibit different aggregation properties and temporal roles in plaque formation. While Aβ42 is more prone to aggregation and initiates early-stage diffuse plaques, the presence of Aβ40 is often associated with more advanced, cored plaques. This assay employs the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method and is reported to have a sensitivity of 0.12 pM. It provides a tool for investigating the dynamics of amyloid-beta peptide deposition and its correlation with disease progression.
