Description

The HB Top Hat Furnace from Verder Scientific is a laboratory furnace characterized by a vertically moving hood, or 'top hat,' that lifts automatically for sample access. This design provides a clear, open workspace for loading and unloading materials. The furnace is available in different configurations with maximum temperatures of 1700°C or 1800°C, and corresponding chamber capacities of 240, 160, or 80 units (typically referring to volume in liters or a standardized dimension). Heating elements differ by model: units rated for 1300°C use FeCrAl wire, while those designed for higher temperatures employ Molybdenum Disilicide elements. The furnace can operate in various atmospheric modes, including inert environments using nitrogen or argon, as well as reactive atmospheres like hydrogen. Available options include a fast cooling system, a 100mm flowmeter, solenoid valves with manual or automatic switching, cascade temperature control, and an audible alarm.
