Description

The GPC-QC from Polymer Char is a compact, high-temperature gel permeation chromatography system designed for quality control in polyolefin production environments. This instrument automates the entire analytical workflow, from sample preparation to final results, without requiring manual solvent handling. It delivers a complete molar mass distribution (MMD) curve for a single sample in approximately 30 minutes, including the dissolution step. This rapid analysis cycle supports frequent monitoring, with a throughput of one sample every half hour. Primary applications include use in pilot plants, during plant start-ups, for tracking grade changes in multi-reactor processes, for assessing the microstructure of pipe resins, and in processors' own laboratories. Detection is achieved via a highly stable infrared (IR) detector, which also provides simultaneous chemical composition data, crucial for analyzing heterogeneous resins like EP copolymers. An optional built-in dual-capillary viscometer can be incorporated to measure intrinsic viscosity. The system is engineered for robustness and precision in quality control settings, providing comprehensive data on MMD, short-chain branching (SCB), and intrinsic viscosity distribution (IVD).
