Description

The Plas-Labs Germicidal Workstation is a still-air enclosure constructed from a single piece of clear acrylic, providing a contained workspace for procedures requiring contamination control or user protection. Its interior workspace measures 41 inches wide, 28 inches deep, and 17 inches high, within an overall exterior footprint of 44 x 29 x 30 inches (WxDxH). A key feature is its integrated lighting system, which includes both a fluorescent lamp for general illumination and a 254 nm ultraviolet germicidal lamp for surface decontamination. A safety interlock prevents both lights from operating simultaneously. The unit includes a ground key cock valve for the introduction of air or gas, illuminated controls, and a fused electrical system. With a weight of 60 pounds, it is relatively portable. Common applications include tissue culture work, PCR setup, animal necropsy, toxicology studies, and serving as a teaching or demonstration hood.
