Description

The LECO GDS900 is a glow discharge atomic emission spectrometer (GD-AES) intended for the routine elemental analysis of conductive materials. It is designed to provide determinations for a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The system aims to deliver improved performance, stability, accuracy, and precision for materials including various grades of steel, iron (including as-cast samples), aluminum, copper, zinc, nickel, cobalt, tungsten, and titanium. The instrument operates by using a glow discharge to sputter atoms from a solid sample surface into a plasma, where they are excited and emit characteristic wavelengths of light. The optical system of the GDS900 covers a wavelength range from 160 nanometers to 460 nanometers, allowing for the detection of relevant elemental emission lines within this spectral region.
